TEAM

Guillermo brings 17+ years of full-cycle experience in distressed mortgage asset management — from acquisition through final resolution. As Portfolio Manager at Kondaur Capital Corporation, one of the pioneers of the distressed mortgage industry, he managed and liquidated over 1,500 non-performing loans with a combined collateral value exceeding $200M. Most recently, he served as Vice President at Anders Capital Group, overseeing a $100M distressed mortgage fund and resolving an additional ~1,000 loans.

Each loan Guillermo has resolved was managed cradle to grave — navigating not only collateral defects, but the full spectrum of issues that arise across the lifecycle of a distressed asset: borrower disposition, legal complexity, title challenges, and market timing. That breadth of experience is what distinguishes Paragon from firms that see only the document layer of a loan.

Steve Guzman

Director of Collateral Operations

Steve is one of the most experienced collateral practitioners in the distressed mortgage industry. With over 15 years as a Collateral Manager for various leading firms in the space, he was directly involved in identifying and curing severe collateral deficiencies across more than 10,000 loan files, spanning both acquisitions and loan sales.

His expertise is laser-focused: broken assignment of mortgage chains, missing or defective note endorsements, allonge deficiencies, lost note affidavits, and the full range of document-level defects that threaten enforceability. At the volume he has operated, there is virtually no collateral problem he has not encountered and resolved.

Why We Built This

We started Paragon because we saw a consistent gap in the market: firms acquiring or servicing distressed loan portfolios needed collateral expertise that went beyond document retrieval. They needed operators who understood the full lifecycle of a distressed asset — and could resolve documentation issues with the same urgency and precision the asset itself demands.

Over the course of our careers, we have built direct relationships with some of the largest sellers of non-performing loans in the country — including HUD. Those relationships give our clients something most collateral firms can't offer: faster defect resolution through direct access to the source. That's what we built.

“Reliable, responsive, and detail-oriented. PCS has been a strong partner on our collateral work, helping us identify and resolve issues efficiently while keeping our timelines on track.”
